Nvidia & Nebius: How Cloud is Bridging AI Funding Gaps

As AI continues to drive industries worldwide, from healthcare to finance, strategic partnerships between cloud providers and tech giants are becoming increasingly crucial for startups seeking to scale their AI innovations.
The AI startup sector has experienced unprecedented growth in the past year, with funding in the US alone reaching US$97bn in 2024, according to Bloomberg.
Now, Nebius, the cloud infrastructure provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Nvidia to support emerging technology companies developing AI applications.
Cloud computing providers closing the gap between AI funding and innovation
Many AI startups report infrastructure costs as their primary barrier to scaling operations, as the computational requirements for training and deploying modern AI models have increased tenfold since 2023, with many foundation models requiring millions in computing resources before generating revenue.
This escalation has created a widening gap between well-funded AI ventures and early-stage innovators who possess technical expertise but lack capital resources – and this is why cloud computing providers have emerged as critical enablers in this ecosystem.
Cloud computing providers offer variable-cost infrastructure that allows startups to develop AI applications without the prohibitive capital expenditure of building proprietary computing clusters.
Nvidia and Nebius: The role of cloud in driving AI startups
The collaboration, unveiled at Nvidia's GTC 2025 conference, connects Nebius AI Cloud with Nvidia Inception, a programme for AI startups that currently includes over 22,000 members worldwide.
The initiative, named Nebius AI Lift, provides eligible startups with financial and technical resources designed to reduce the capital expenditure barriers that often limit AI development in early-stage companies.
Central to the programme is the provision of up to US$150,000 in cloud computing credits, allowing startups to access high-performance computing resources without significant upfront investment.
These resources include Nvidia's specialised graphics processing units (GPUs).
“By working together with Nvidia Inception, Nebius can offer AI startups the tools, expertise and resources they need to scale their innovations faster and more effectively than ever,” says Mona Li, Director of Startup Ecosystem at Nebius.
“Our aim is to drive the next wave of AI breakthroughs by bringing down technical barriers and fostering collaboration.
“We provide access to state-of-the-art AI infrastructure accelerated by Nvidia, as well as expert guidance and financial support — freeing up startups to focus on shipping transformative AI solutions that redefine industries.”
Nebius AI Lift: Supporting beyond standard cloud credits
The programme includes additional financial incentives beyond the primary cloud credits. Participants receive US$10,000 specifically allocated for inference workloads – the deployment phase of AI models where trained algorithms process new data to generate predictions or analysis.
Nebius states that startups joining within the first three months qualify for additional benefits, including priority access to Nvidia's computing infrastructure and early availability of the Nvidia Blackwell platform – the company's next-generation GPU architecture designed for advanced AI applications.
Meanwhile, participating companies also receive technical consultation focused on optimising their AI workloads for performance and cost-efficiency, which can significantly impact a startup's operational runway and development timeline.
This way, the partnership addresses a recognised challenge in the AI startup ecosystem – the substantial computing resources required for developing sophisticated AI models, which frequently consume capital that could otherwise fund core business operations or research activities.
Nvidia Inception: Providing the gateway to Nebius resources
The Nvidia Inception programme serves as the entry point for startups seeking access to the Nebius resources.
Operating as a free-to-join accelerator for technology startups, Inception provides member companies with development resources, training programmes, and connections to potential investors.
Nebius indicates that the fast-tracked onboarding process enables integration with their high-performance cloud computing environment, which utilises Nvidia's accelerated computing technology.
Furthermore, the partnership targets startups across multiple sectors, including life sciences, media, entertainment and financial services – all fields experiencing significant disruption from AI technologies.
To qualify for the programme benefits, startups must meet eligibility criteria established by both Nebius and Nvidia, with full details available through the AI Lift website or Nvidia's startup portal.
“We provide access to state-of-the-art AI infrastructure accelerated by Nvidia, as well as expert guidance and financial support – freeing up startups to focus on shipping transformative AI solutions that redefine industries,” Mona says.
