Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Anthropic have upgraded their partnership to augment the process of building Gen AI applications… with Gen AI.

That is because AWS’ Amazon Bedrock, a cloud platform used for building Gen AI applications, has announced the general availability of Anthropic's AI latest Chatbot Claude 3.5 Sonnet on its platform.

Key strengths of Claude 3.5 Sonnet include advanced coding capabilities, improved context understanding, state-of-the-art vision capabilities, and enhanced data science and analysis abilities.

Equally, Anthropic claims that Claude 3.5 Sonnet delivers superior intelligence and speed at just one-fifth of the price of Opus, an added bonus to Amazon Bedrock users who can pay US$3 per million input tokens and US$15 per million output tokens.

Claude 2.1 had a 200,000 token context window, which was industry-leading at the time and was equivalent to about 150,000 words or over 500 pages of text.

Claude first became available on Amazon Bedrock in 2023, however, this latest iteration represents increased capabilities available for Amazon Bedrock users.

Amazon Bedrock is a fully managed service that offers developers access to a wide range of foundation models from leading AI companies, along with the tools needed to build and deploy Gen AI applications.

It simplifies the development process while maintaining privacy and security, providing a unified API for seamless integration.

Claude, developed by Anthropic, is a family of large language models known for their advanced reasoning capabilities and ability to handle complex tasks.

The integration of Claude 3.5 Sonnet into Amazon Bedrock combines Anthropic's cutting-edge AI technology with AWS's robust cloud infrastructure and development tools.

How this works for Amazon Bedrock customers is companies using the platform to build their models can now utilise the in-platform help of Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

This can be to do some of the grunt work - streamlining code translations - and even for assistance in complex tasks - orchestrating multi-step workflows and creating revenue-generating user-facing applications.

Equally access of the models come within a secure, enterprise-grade environment, and flexibility to choose and switch between different AI models based on specific needs.

Gen AI in AI development

The integration of Gen AI into various industry platforms is rapidly transforming business operations across sectors.

Companies are leveraging these technologies to enhance productivity, drive innovation, and create new customer experiences.

For instance, food delivery company DoorDash has incorporated Claude models via Amazon Bedrock to build a Gen AI contact centre solution, resulting in significant improvements in customer support efficiency.

WPP, the world's largest advertising company, had integrated Claude models into its intelligent marketing operating system through Amazon Bedrock, to enhance the quality of client work and improve efficiency across various creative tasks.

As of June 2024, more than 10,000 organisations worldwide were using Amazon Bedrock to build generative AI applications.

As Gen AI continues to evolve and become more accessible through platforms like Amazon Bedrock, we can expect to see further innovations and transformations across various sectors.
