Vodafone: AI Concierge Brings 24/7 Agentic Support to SMEs

Vodafone Business and Google Cloud are deepening their partnership to bring agentic AI and managed security to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Europe. The deal builds on a 10-year, US$1bn agreement signed in 2024.
The first product in the roadmap is the Vodafone Business AI Concierge, which is designed to handle customer interactions autonomously and capture leads at any time.
The partnership combines Vodafone’s European and African reach with Google Cloud’s AI stack and Gemini models, which are used by organisations across 200 territories. It aims to accelerate SME digital transformation by uniting low-latency connectivity with enterprise-grade AI and security.
A 24/7 AI Concierge in Europe
Vodafone Business AI Concierge will be built on Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and Gemini models. It is a multimodal agent that can understand voice and text, then take action within a business workflow.
Using Vodafone’s low-latency network, the Concierge will engage naturally with customers, answer questions and book appointments. It is designed to take on repetitive tasks without human intervention.
The service will first be available in Germany and Greece, and is intended to help SMEs avoid missed calls and respond outside standard operating hours.
Fanan Henriques, Product and International Business Director at Vodafone Business, says: "Vodafone Business is helping millions of SMEs unlock the power of AI without the complexity or risk.
"By combining our network and support with Google Cloud’s AI expertise, we’re making advanced, secure AI practical for everyday business use, starting with innovations like AI Concierge, one of the first telephony integrations with Gemini."
The Concierge is the first in a planned suite of agentic AI solutions for SMEs. Future capabilities are expected to deepen workflow automation as businesses adopt Gen AI.
Managed detection and response to strengthen security
Alongside the AI rollout, the companies are introducing a managed detection and response (MDR) service to improve cyber resilience for SMEs. The service is enabled by Google Security Operations.
The MDR combines Google’s global security analytics with AI-driven threat intelligence. It is designed to deliver real-time detection, investigation and response at a price point suitable for smaller teams.
The service will launch in Germany first to meet strict data protection standards. A broader European expansion is planned following the German debut.
By consolidating telemetry and analysis in one place, the MDR aims to reduce alert fatigue. It also aims to shorten response times for threats that increasingly target small businesses.
Oliver Parker, Vice President of Global Generative AI at Google Cloud, adds: "By combining our Gemini models and enterprise-grade security expertise with Vodafone’s deep connectivity and customer reach, we are giving SMEs the tools they need to stay protected and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape."
Oliver notes that small businesses are the backbone of the global economy yet often remain underserved when it comes to cutting-edge technology.
Partnership context and scale
Vodafone serves 360 million customers across 15 countries. Its footprint and customer support infrastructure provide reach that can scale SME solutions quickly.
Google Cloud brings an advanced AI stack, security platforms and Gemini models. Together, the companies aim to make enterprise-grade capabilities accessible to smaller organisations.
The 10-year, US$1bn agreement signed in 2024 sets a long-term foundation for joint innovation. The roadmap prioritises AI assistants, cyber defence and productivity tools that can be deployed with minimal complexity.
For SMEs, the offer focuses on outcomes: always-on customer engagement, streamlined operations and stronger cyber posture. The intent is to help owners spend less time on manual work and more time on growth.
