US$122bn Funding Sets OpenAI on Path to AI Stratosphere

OpenAI has closed a landmark US$122bn funding round at a post-money valuation of US$852bn, signalling a defining moment in the context of artificial intelligence and technology as a whole.

The scale of the raise reflects growing confidence among global investors that AI is fast becoming core infrastructure – akin to electricity, the internet and mobile networks in previous eras.

Ultimately, OpenAI is bidding to position itself as the foundational platform enabling individuals, developers and enterprises to build, deploy and scale intelligent systems worldwide.

Central to OpenAI’s rise is the evolution of ChatGPT from a widely-used consumer application into a powerful distribution layer for AI.

With hundreds of millions of users globally, the platform has become a gateway through which AI capabilities are introduced into everyday workflows and, increasingly, into enterprise environments.

How Soon Could AI Trailblazer Anthropic Go Public?

AI giant Anthropic is actively exploring plans for an IPO, positioning the company at the centre of one of the most anticipated stock market debuts in recent years.

Widespread reports suggest the listing could raise more than US$60bn, underlining both the scale of investor appetite and the rapid growth of the AI sector.

While discussions remain preliminary and subject to change, the move signals a new phase in the commercialisation of generative AI – one that could reshape public markets and redefine how emerging technology companies are valued.

According to outlets including The Information, Anthropic executives including CEO Dario Amodei have held internal discussions about launching an IPO as soon as the fourth quarter of this year – specifically, October.

Bloomberg adds that the company has begun engaging with major Wall Street institutions, with Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley all under consideration for leading roles. These discussions are said to remain fluid and no final decisions have been confirmed.

Why Openreach is Looking to Google Cloud AI for Efficiency

Openreach, the telco firm operating the UK's largest broadband network, has announced an expanded collaboration with Google Cloud to accelerate its sustainability and connectivity objectives through AI.

By deploying Google Cloud's advanced AI and data science technologies, Openreach is optimising its commercial fleet – the UK's second-largest by number of vehicles – and accelerating the rollout of gigabit full fibre broadband to millions of homes across the country.

Leveraging Google Cloud's Vertex AI and BigQuery, Openreach has implemented key initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of its 24,000-van fleet, improving operational efficiency and enabling faster broadband installations for customers. The partnership stands to demonstrate how AI-driven solutions are being applied to address real-world infrastructure and environmental challenges at scale.

With vehicles covering almost 200 million miles each year, Openreach has migrated its fleet telematics data to Google Cloud to drive what could be meaningful sustainability and efficiency gains. By applying advanced geoanalytics, these initiatives are already cutting emissions and unnecessary mileage, while also generating millions of pounds in annual savings for operations nationwide.

Source code behind Anthropic's flagship tool Claude Code was leaked

Claude Code Leak: What Went Wrong at Anthropic?

In a major blow to the AI pioneer, Anthropic’s flagship AI coding tool had its secrets laid bare for the world to see.

The accidental leak of the source code behind Claude Code was not the result of a security incident, but rather a simple “human error”.

Claude Code, Anthropic’s premier AI coding tool – relied upon by many to turn their ideas into functioning applications without having to write code – is part of the Claude AI suite that serves more than 300,000 enterprise customers.

A post on X with an active link to the code was viewed by millions, giving developers, engineers and most of the internet an active roadmap into the internal workings of its coveted flagship tool.

“No sensitive customer data or credentials were involved or exposed,” reads an Anthropic statement, as reported by CNBC. “This was a release packaging issue caused by human error, not a security breach. We’re rolling out measures to prevent this from happening again."

Why is SAP Acquiring Master Data Management Company Reltio?

AI is only as good as the data it is trained on.

In a move designed to make enterprise data AI-ready, SAP will acquire Reltio – a leading master data management (MDM) software provider. The deal is expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

The acquisition will strengthen SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) – a core component of SAP’s AI-First and Suite-First strategy.

Once integrated, Reltio’s platform will enable SAP customers to unify, cleanse and harmonise data from SAP and non-SAP sources, providing a reliable foundation for enterprise-wide AI applications.

"Reltio is a natural fit with SAP," says Muhammad Alam, member of the Executive Board of SAP, SAP Product & Engineering. "Acquiring them will further improve our position as a leading business AI provider, combining SAP and non-SAP data to deliver data context that business AI requires.

"AI cannot reach its full potential when data is fragmented across business units, platforms and domains without connection or context."
