Accenture & AWS release of a platform for scaling responsible AI comes as the technology faces fresh scrutiny from legislators

Accenture and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced they’ll join their efforts to temper the proliferation of AI with the creation of a responsible AI platform.

The Accenture Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) Platform powered by AWS aims to help organisations adopt and scale AI responsibly and safely.

“Our work with AWS is focused on helping our clients establish and embed responsible AI at scale, closing the gap between principles and action,” says Arnab Chakraborty, Chief Responsible AI Officer, Accenture.

The platform is designed to offer comprehensive end-to-end services, including AI governance setup, risk assessment, Gen AI testing, ongoing compliance support, and regulation management.

Scaling with responsibility

The announcement comes at a time where broader challenges and opportunities associated with scaling AI technologies have emerged.

As advanced AI systems become more capable, companies must implement practices to identify, monitor, and mitigate potential risks.

This is increasingly important as regulations, like the EU AI Act, will penalise those who have acted without due consideration for how they are developing or deploying AI models.

Yet according to Accenture, only 2% of companies have fully operationaliSed responsible AI across their organisations.

This collaboration with AWS is therefore a response to that need for organisations to develop a responsible AI strategy that enables them to harness AI's potential while maintaining trust and safety.

The solutions take this concept of "responsible capability scaling" and adds progressively stringent response measures corresponding to the model size or capabilities.

Core offerings:
  • AI governance and principles
  • AI risk assessment
  • Systemic responsible AI testing and risk mitigation
  • Monitoring and compliance support
  • Enterprise impact including workforce, sustainability, and privacy and security

The Accenture Responsible AI Platform powered by AWS integrates core elements of these tenants, deemed attributes of responsible AI, and offers a unified view of assets, open-source tools, and industry standards.

“With our expanded collaboration, Accenture Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) Platform powered by AWS will help customers adopt and scale AI rapidly and with confidence,” said Vasi Philomin, Vice President of Generative AI at AWS.

This integration helps organisations seamlessly incorporate responsible AI practices into their workflows and processes. The platform's intuitive user journey allows business leaders to assess their organisation's readiness for AI, perform risk screenings, and develop appropriate risk mitigation approaches.

Moving towards safety

The announcement builds upon one of many of Accenture's ongoing work to create responsible AI with AWS.

Accenture and AWS joined forces with Anthropic to scale AI responsibly. The strategic collaboration aims to leverage the value of large language models and Gen AI for faster business transformation on AWS, including a responsible AI blueprint.

The collaboration between Accenture and AWS represents a continued step towards responsible AI. With legislation demanding businesses adapt, Accenture being one of the industry’s first and most comprehensive in the responsible AI space could see it influencing the development of AI.
