How AWS & TCS Aim to Strategically Advance Cloud and Gen AI
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is committing itself to being as AI-ready as possible.
Through a redefined multi-year partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company aims to offer cloud modernisation programmes for customers across all industries. The goal is to help businesses accelerate their digital transformation journeys by leveraging next-generation technologies, including generative AI (Gen AI).
AWS will support the company in this endeavour by upskilling and reskilling 25,000 TCS employees with cutting-edge cloud and Gen AI skills. This will enable them to better serve their enterprise customers as the global business landscape moves to an ever-increasing digital focus.
Leveraging enterprise cloud transformations at scale
The rate at which businesses are adopting new technologies like AI and cloud services is expanding, with AWS even confirming via a 2024 survey that 85% of employers envision their companies becoming AI-driven as soon as 2028.
AWS and TCS’ strategic agreement hopes to enable TCS to facilitate full-stack digital transformation of its customers by leveraging the power of Gen AI and data solutions on the AWS platform.
Likewise, TCS states it will provide customers with tools to create more modern architectures, deliver business value by harnessing cloud-native capabilities and to drive modernisation at scale. These solutions include clear cloud modernisation roadmaps, access to modernisation platforms and tools, exclusive investment models and proof-of-concept (POC) projects.
As part of this programme, a broad range of existing customers have been selected. They operate across a broad range of key industries, including banking, financial services, life sciences, healthcare, travel, transportation, hospitality, manufacturing, automotive and telecom.
“Together with AWS's comprehensive suite of Gen AI and modernisation services, along with TCS' domain expertise and global delivery capabilities, our customers will benefit from accelerating their enterprise transformation,” says Matt Garman, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Global Services at AWS. “By upskilling 25,000 TCS professionals, we are committed to addressing the evolving needs of our customers through innovative solutions to accelerate their modernisation journey.”
In a climate of mass innovation, businesses are often struggling to keep up with digital demands. As a result, they put themselves in a position where they no longer have a workforce that can innovate in the way that the business needs.
To mitigate this, upskilling efforts are paramount. Countless numbers of organisations have started to reskill their employees, which includes elevating their capabilities to a much higher level - allowing them to personally succeed and putting the business in a much better position.
Companies that have already commenced work on these efforts include the likes of SAP, which committed to a business restructure in favour of AI.
Reinforcing business strategies
Whilst TCS and AWS have been partnered for more than a decade, the companies seek to reinforce their commitment through this new strategy. Both companies together already offer a comprehensive suite of services, including cloud migration, application modernisation, data analytics and AI-powered solutions.
The initiative seeks to remove complex barriers and actualise faster time-to-value, offering businesses a chance to leverage AWS’ technologies and TCS’ contextual knowledge combined.
TCS is already well-positioned to lead large-scale continuous modernisation for organisations, which includes its significant investment in industry platforms. Last year, it facilitated better access to data for a range of businesses, including the Jaguar Formula E Team in July 2023.
Krishna Mohan, Deputy Head of the AI & Cloud Unit at TCS, comments: “We are excited about the unique value proposition that our clients will have access to, through this agreement between TCS and AWS to take advantage of TCS' contextual knowledge. It offers an opportunity to drive significant value by accessing innovative technologies such as generative AI and modernisation at scale for our clients globally.
“This agreement also represents the continuing progress of our strong collaboration with AWS and we look forward to deepening our strategic ties with the hyperscaler to bring further innovation to our clients.”
