Eaton’s Armand van Niekerk on Africa’s Digital Expansion
The global adoption of digital services, fueled by AI and exponential data growth, has generated significant demand for robust, high-capacity power solutions. Eaton positions itself as an indispensable provider of digital infrastructure. Its mission is to enable individuals and enterprises to utilise electrical power safely, efficiently and sustainably within the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Recognising the immense opportunities and obstacles in the African market, Eaton has launched a comprehensive multi-year strategy. This plan supports Africa’s developing digital economy and meets rising data demand across the continent. The priority is to build sovereign, scalable, and sustainable computing capacity. This includes infrastructure tailored for hyperscale cloud providers, colocation facilities, and large enterprises. This approach ensures a reliable power backbone for local and global digital success.
Eaton’s African collaboration with Kasi Cloud aims to expedite large-scale digital infrastructure deployment in West Africa, starting with Nigeria, the continent’s largest economy.
Armand van Niekerk, Data Center Segment Leader at Eaton, says both companies are aligned in vision. Kasi aims to deliver a sustainable, connected cloud platform consistent with Eaton’s power management approach, spanning from utility grid to computer chips. This partnership, strengthened by Kasi’s regional expertise, may significantly transform West Africa’s digital ecosystem.
