Amdocs & NVIDIA aim to accelerate GenAI adoption for telcos

Amdocs and NVIDIA have teamed up to advance generative AI across telecoms industries, customising LLMs to help businesses better adopt AI tools

Amdocs and NVIDIA are collaborating to accelerate the adoption of generative AI across the US$1.7tn telecommunications and media industries.

Both companies are seeking to optimise large language models (LLMs) to speed up business adoption of generative AI applications and services. They will customise enterprise-grade LLMs that run on NVIDIA accelerated computing as part of the Amdocs amAIz framework.

This partnership ultimately aims to empower communications service providers to efficiently deploy generative AI use cases across their businesses, from customer experiences to network provisioning.

This adds to NVIDIA’s extensive partnerships, which sees the company aiming to aid businesses to better adopt and customise AI.

Boosting generative AI use cases

Amdocs will use NVIDIA DGX Cloud AI supercomputing and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software to support flexible adoption strategies and ensure service providers can simply and safely use generative AI applications.

The collaboration aims to bring both a unique platform and greater value to customers as it combines NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure with Amdocs’ amAIz framework.

Aligned with the Amdocs strategy of advancing generative AI use cases across the industry, the collaboration with NVIDIA builds on the previously announced Amdocs-Microsoft partnership. Service providers and media companies can adopt these applications in secure and trusted environments, including on premises and in the cloud.

With these new capabilities, including the NVIDIA NeMo framework for custom LLM development and guardrail features, service providers can expect to benefit from enhanced performance, optimised resource use and flexible scalability to support future needs.

“Across a broad range of industries, enterprises are looking for the fastest, safest path to apply generative AI to boost productivity,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “Our collaboration with Amdocs will help telco service providers automate personalised assistants, service ticket routing and other use cases for their billions of customers, and help the telcos analyse and optimise their operations.”

Jensen Huang has continually been vocal about how NVIDIA plans to harness AI moving forward, having hailed the technology as a “reinvention of computing.”

Amdocs counts more than 350 of the world’s leading telecom and media companies as customers, including 27 of the world’s top 30 service providers. With more than 1.7 billion daily digital journeys, Amdocs platforms impact more than three billion people around the world.

Similarly, NVIDIA continues to introduce new generative AI platforms for a wide range of industries worldwide, including chips. It was announced that NVIDIA is also planning to release three new chips for China, just weeks after the US blocked the company from selling AI chips to Chinese firms.

NVIDIA and Amdocs are currently exploring a number of generative AI use cases to simplify and improve operations by providing secure, cost-effective and high-performance generative AI capabilities.

Initial use cases span customer care, including accelerating resolution of customer inquiries by drawing information from across company data. On the network operations side, the companies are exploring how to proactively generate solutions that aid configuration, coverage or performance issues as they arise.
