Across numerous industries, AI is increasingly being utilised with sustainability in mind.

Big-name organisations such as Microsoft, Accenture, IFS, Siemens and Google are among those leading the charge, deploying their own applications and taking part in important initiatives.

These include events like Sustainability LIVE @ London Climate Action Week, which explores how AI can drive net-zero progress and environmental innovation.

Industry deployment for environmental goals

WWF Germany, Microsoft and Accenture recently launched ghostnetzero.ai, a platform that uses AI to analyse sonar data. The system locates lost fishing gear – which constitutes 30% of marine plastic waste – with 90% accuracy.

KPMG supports transformations through its Trusted AI Framework and tools like Climate IQ. The firm employs 270,000 people and uses these systems to ensure ethical and sustainable deployment.

In the aviation sector, Infosys employs the Cobalt Airline Cloud in aviation to optimise flight paths and predictive maintenance, while Salesforce uses Agentforce to help organisations like Good360 and Rare streamline disaster relief and regenerative agriculture.

Meanwhile, Google's WeatherNext and Microsoft's Aurora provide near-instant climate forecasts, and NVIDIA's Earth-2 offers models like CorrDiff that are 3,000 times more energy-efficient than traditional methods.
