Salesforce is amplifying its UK presence with major AI investment, promising 500,000 new jobs and establishing London as its European AI innovation centre

Salesforce has revealed its plans to funnel an additional US$6bn into its UK operations through 2030, positioning the UK as the cornerstone of its European AI innovation strategy.

The investment, which doubles the company's previous US$4bn commitment from 2023, builds upon the successful launch of Salesforce's first AI centre in London.

This move reinforces the company's dedication to accelerating AI adoption across UK and European enterprises.

"We're delighted that the UK, already a vital talent and innovation centre, will become our AI hub for Europe, driving product innovation for customers across the region."

Salesforce is going all-in on AI

Salesforce's global AI strategy centres on technologies like Data Cloud and Agentforce, enabling businesses to evolve into 'Agentic Enterprises' where AI agents work alongside human employees to enhance productivity and create new revenue streams.

The UK market, Salesforce's largest outside the US, demonstrates strong AI adoption potential, with 78% of UK C-suite executives already using AI agents.

The London AI centre currently supports hundreds of UK clients, including Capita, Formula 1 and Simplyhealth.

Recent acquisitions of AI start-ups Convergence.ai and Own Company strengthen the centre's capabilities, while new UK-based R&D teams will expand AI innovation across Europe.

The pending integration of Informatica further signals the growth of Salesforce's AI ecosystem.

According to projections from the IDC, Salesforce's British operations are expected to generate over US$41bn in economic benefits and create more than 500,000 jobs by 2028.

To support this expected growth, Salesforce is investing in workforce development through skills training and education initiatives.

The company advocates for a national digital skills platform and collaborates with the UK government to improve AI training accessibility.

Building a robust AI ecosystem

Through Salesforce Ventures, the company has invested more than US$200m in emerging UK AI companies, including ElevenLabs (AI audio research), Climate X (climate adaptation solutions), and Covecta (AI applications for financial services).

The company has also launched a £1m (US$1.4bn) Salesforce Accelerator programme specifically for non-profits, helping them leverage AI for social impact. Globally, the Accelerator programme has provided over US$10m to 38 organisations.

Officials from the British government have also acknowledged the importance of Salesforce's endeavours.
