Building AI ecosystems

Peng Xiao’s career has been defined by a focus on building AI ecosystems rather than isolated tools.

With experience spanning technology strategy and large-scale digital transformation, he has established himself as a leader who understands both the technical foundations of AI and the economic value it can unlock.

As CEO of G42, he has overseen the company’s rapid growth into a multi-vertical AI and cloud computing group with subsidiaries including Core42 and Inception.

Peng has also become a prominent voice advocating for AI that addresses urgent global priorities, from climate resilience to sustainable infrastructure.

G42’s global expansion

One of the clearest markers of Peng’s influence is G42’s growing international reach.

In early 2025, the company announced a strategic partnership with French firm DataOne to develop next-generation AI data centres in Lyon, Grenoble and beyond.

Led by Core42, the collaboration aims to deliver ultra-efficient, gigascale AI infrastructure powered by AMD GPUs, strengthening Europe’s technological competitiveness while expanding access to high-performance computing.

The move illustrates Peng’s commitment to building the backbone of the AI economy, ensuring enterprises and researchers have the resources required to accelerate innovation.

Driving AI innovation through climate tech

Elsewhere, Peng has played a pivotal role in applying AI to climate and weather prediction – one of the most pressing challenges of the modern era.

G42’s partnership with NVIDIA established the Earth-2 Climate Tech Lab in Abu Dhabi, designed to revolutionise forecasting using AI-powered high-resolution simulations.

In 2025, G42 and NVIDIA advanced this work by developing an AI weather forecasting system capable of producing forecasts at 200-metre resolution.

The system uses generative downscaling models to predict extreme weather events and localised phenomena such as fog, with applications across agriculture, urban planning and disaster response.

Peng has described this collaboration as a demonstration of AI’s potential to solve critical global challenges, reinforcing his reputation as a leader driving innovation with purpose.

Peng Xiao’s inclusion among the world’s top AI leaders celebrates his ability to connect frontier AI research with transformative infrastructure and sustainability-driven solutions.

By expanding G42’s global footprint and championing AI applications that address climate risk and economic resilience, Peng is helping define the next era of responsible AI leadership.
