Kuehne+Nagel has partnered with Chorusview Inc to build a global smart label reader network, using AI to give customers clearer shipment insight

Kuehne+Nagel has launched a new Road Customer Visibility platform, a system designed to provide a comprehensive global smart label reader network.

In a partnership with Chorusview Inc., the new platform transmits label data to the cloud, where artificial intelligence can deliver actionable shipment insights directly to customers, enhancing efficiency and satisfaction.

Kuehne+Nagel is collaborating with Chorusview Inc., a spin-off of Alphabet’s X Moonshot Factory, to establish this globally available smart label reader network, which could connect to more than 100 million devices.

Chorusview specialises in supply chain and logistics, providing orchestration tools and end-to-end visibility that help organisations lower costs and improve operations.

Its platform uses Chorus Seeker labels to capture data across various settings, making item-level visibility a reality.

Kuehne+Nagel’s platform uses these devices to transmit smart label and sensor data to the cloud, which is then processed by AI to generate insights.

This process is designed to create efficient supply chain visibility without the risk of manual errors or delays.

This technological transformation leverages Kuehne+Nagel's position as a leading global logistics provider. Kuehne+Nagel operates almost 1,300 sites across approximately 100 countries, offering end-to-end supply chain solutions.

The partnership with Chorusview enables the creation of a vast reader network.

"We have made meaningful progress toward our goal of establishing a widely accessible and seamless reader network that enables consistent data transmission across shipments," explains Alireza Nemati, Global Head of Innovation for Road Logistics at Kuehne+Nagel.

"Item-level visibility is transforming the logistics of industries where accurate ETAs and condition monitoring are critical for effective resource management, customer satisfaction and business continuity. Real-time tracking and data-driven decision making also helps reduce waste and loss in areas like inventory management and returns logistics.”

Expanding the network for global reach

Chorusview has expanded its network to grow its global reach.

The reader network already includes WIFI access points, scanning devices and corporate mobile applications, but its integration of popular third-party mobile apps could further accelerate supply chain transformations.

This development strengthens Kuehne+Nagel’s item-level visibility capabilities, helping it offer more control to its customers.

The Road Customer Visibility solution enhances supply chain efficiency by automating workflows, immediately managing changes and keeping stakeholders informed.

The solution offers visibility at a range of levels, acting as a single source of truth by integrating thousands of data points.

Through the Chorusview network, Kuehne+Nagel demonstrates how the broad adoption of printable smart label technology can transform logistics.

Suresh Vishnubhatla, CEO of Chorusview Inc

“We share Kuehne+Nagel’s commitment to making supply chains more efficient and resilient through advanced orchestration,” adds Suresh Vishnubhatla CEO of Chorusview Inc.

“Expanding our reader network marks a major milestone in this journey. It’s made possible by combining our cutting-edge technology with Kuehne+Nagel’s logistics expertise and global reach. We’re excited to scale our smart label solution further and deliver value to customers worldwide.”

Predictive analytics and intelligent alerts

Kuehne+Nagel is using this partnership to apply advanced sensor technology to elevate supply chain efficiency.

This level of visibility helps customers plan their time and resources more effectively around product deliveries.

The platform uses smart alerts to help both seller and customer plan and enhance resource allocation.

The labels also provide precise temperature readings, which is particularly important for cold chain logistics.

If any temperature deviations occur, they can be quickly identified and isolated to prevent wider issues, ensuring the rest of the cargo remains safeguarded.

The sensors can also be used to protect goods from damage and theft, with shock sensors identifying physical impacts and light sensors detecting if a box has been opened. Access to this real-time data increases accountability and efficiency while reducing waste, future risks and costs.
