Building AI agents into the enterprise

Uniphore, a Business AI company, works with data, language models and enterprise systems to create scalable, secure agentic AI. Its aim is to blend the personalised simplicity of consumer AI with the robust scale and governance of enterprise-grade systems.

Global enterprises, including multiple Fortune 500 companies, use Uniphore to update their operations and connect AI with human workflow.

KPMG, one of the largest professional services networks globally, is harnessing the partnership to deploy functional AI agents, enabling automation in procurement, insurance, healthcare and energy workflows.

The collaboration relies on Uniphore’s Business AI Cloud and small language models (SLMs), which are compact, domain-specific versions of large language models. These models are tailored to specific industries or functions, improving performance and alignment with business needs.

The AI agents integrate directly with KPMG’s existing enterprise systems and data environments, enabling reuse of current data architectures while embedding new AI capabilities.

"We are thrilled to align with Uniphore’s vision for AI as a transformative force for business as we focus on helping clients move from AI experimentation to real operational value," says Prasad Jayaraman, Advisory Principal at KPMG.

"Working together with Uniphore to use AI to transform regulated industries supports our mission to embed business AI into how work gets done, in a way that is governed, scalable and aligned with client needs.”

The approach enables KPMG to support clients by building AI-enabled delivery models, covering routine processes through a mix of consulting and AI expertise.

Meeting sector needs with AI at scale

The partnership introduces a repeatable model to apply AI in highly-regulated and interconnected industries. KPMG is building an AI agent framework that allows its workforce to design, deploy and govern models that blend human input with machine execution.

Uniphore’s Business AI Cloud will help the firm:

  • Translate compliance frameworks and institutional knowledge into sector-specific SLMs, so that AI agents can function accurately within regulated boundaries
  • Apply governed AI agents across various functions including procurement, finance, workforce optimisation, claims management and customer service
  • Extend support to use cases in sectors such as telecommunications, healthcare, oil and gas and financial services

This system uses an "SLM factory" approach, where traditional knowledge – once shared through documents and human training – is transformed into reusable and scalable AI tools.

"Business AI proves its value in production, where enterprise environments are complex, regulated and deeply interconnected," adds Umesh Sachdev, CEO and Co-Founder of Uniphore.

"Our work with KPMG enables a repeatable process for running AI inside real enterprise workflows, so organisations can scale how people and AI work together and drive outcomes."

Through this process, the AI agents function as operational tools that help enterprises automate, optimise and refine their workflows without disrupting existing systems or governance structures.

Boosting procurement efficiency

One of the first practical outcomes of this partnership lies in procurement and contracting, where AI agents streamline core tasks. These agents classify contracts at scale, extract legal and financial obligations, compare terms to approved standards and flag exceptions for human approval.

The process targets key pain points for procurement teams, who often face long review cycles and time-consuming risk checks. AI agents automate those tasks, enabling teams to focus on strategic activities. The model supports both efficiency and accuracy, reducing the likelihood of revenue leakage and compliance oversights.

KPMG and Uniphore are deploying these solutions in environments with fragmented data and strict regulatory frameworks. The goal is to enable AI agents to function effectively – even in settings with multiple dependencies and inconsistent data structures.

Prasad continues: “Uniphore is becoming an increasingly significant player in enterprise AI and we are pleased to work together to help translate business knowledge into AI-enabled delivery models that drive real outcomes for our clients.”

The AI systems are built to operate alongside existing enterprise data platforms. Rather than working in isolation, agents use live data governed by existing controls, allowing businesses to maintain trust in their data while adopting advanced automation.
