How Coupaâs AI Platform Transforms Supplier Sourcing

Spend management company Coupa is acquiring Scoutbee, an AI-powered platform that uses search technology to change how buyers and suppliers connect within the procurement sector.
The agreement sees Scoutbeeâs capabilities integrated into the Coupa platform, which enhances how suppliers are discovered and onboarded.
The integration of Scoutbeeâs AI-driven platform with Coupaâs network, which includes over 10 million buyers and suppliers, is intended to improve transparency and efficiency in supplier discovery, onboarding and transactions.
This unified platform aims to connect buyers with suppliers, offering instant discovery and real-time risk and ESG intelligence.
For businesses navigating uncertain market conditions, this helps to accelerate operations and support profitable decisions.
Inside AI-driven sourcing network
The acquisition of Scoutbee is a step towards building a comprehensive sourcing network.
The platform uses AI to link buyers with suppliers, which provides faster and more reliable connections that generate value for both parties.
âCoupa and Scoutbee share a fundamental belief that better data leads to better AI, better decisions and ultimately, a better world through more resilient supply chains,â explains Salvatore Lombardo, Coupa Chief Product and Technology Officer.
âTogether, we are creating the worldâs most comprehensive, dynamic and data-rich network. This acquisition enables us to deliver a truly effortless buyer-supplier matching experience and further enhances our network that will power the future of global trade,â Salvatore says.
Scoutbeeâs AI engine uses advanced large language models (LLMs) to refine supplier discovery.
It provides verified matches that simplify sourcing and expedites procurement by connecting buyersâ specific needs with qualified suppliers.
For procurement and sourcing teams, Scoutbeeâs AI offers access to vetted suppliers that match project specifications across criteria such as qualifications, risk profiles, certifications and industry expertise.
The importance of seamless buyer and supplier connections
Suppliers can also benefit from the integration. Companies often invest heavily in marketing to secure new business.
Scoutbeeâs AI within the Coupa platform aims to address this by giving suppliers automatic visibility to relevant buyers.
These connections are then converted into contracts through the Coupa Sourcing Event Marketplace.
âWe founded Scoutbee with the premise that AI can transform real-time sourcing and procurement by enabling buyers and suppliers to seamlessly connect, collaborate and transact,â adds Gregor StĂźhler, Scoutbee Co-Founder and CEO.
âJoining Coupa allows us to bring our mission to a global stage, and provide an exceptionally data-rich and comprehensive buyer-supplier network and B2B marketplace at scale,â Gregor says.
Integrating platforms for enhanced data
Coupa and Scoutbee share major clients, including Walmart and Unilever, who already use both platforms.
The integration into a single platform, expected to launch in early 2026, offers an improved, data-driven experience.
Key features of the integration include:
- Enhanced supplier profiles. The integration syncs and refines supplier data within the Coupa Supplier Portal, creating precise, search-optimised profiles for the networkâs suppliers.
- Intelligent AI search. Scoutbeeâs AI search is integrated into Coupa's platform, delivering supplier results enhanced by Coupaâs operational data and Scoutbeeâs web search capabilities.
- Accelerated supplier onboarding. Scoutbee can provide up to 80% of the required information for onboarding, which helps auto-populate supplier profiles and reduces manual work.
- Expanded revenue potential. By improving supplier discovery and profile visibility, suppliers can more easily identify and engage new business partners.
By merging Scoutbeeâs capabilities with Coupaâs AI-native platform, customers and suppliers see greater transparency and efficiency.
These advanced features are integrated as native Coupa functions across applications such as sourcing, contracts and source-to-pay.
The integration also includes the full suite of Coupa Navi⢠AI agents to optimise workflows.
The deal is expected to close within Coupaâs current fiscal quarter.
