Under the agreement, Wiz will join Google Cloud to accelerate security against increasing multicloud and AI adoption in the enterprise

Google has signed a definitive agreement to acquire cloud security firm Wiz for $32bn, pending closing adjustments. Once the deal is finalised, Wiz will integrate into Google Cloud, with both companies working to enhance cybersecurity and advance multicloud strategies in the AI era.

Multicloud refers to the practice of distributing cloud assets and applications across multiple cloud platforms. As businesses increasingly rely on AI-powered systems, securing these complex environments has become a priority.

The combination of Google Cloud and Wiz aims to address this challenge by leveraging AI to strengthen defences against evolving cyber threats.

CEO of Google Cloud, Thomas Kurian

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian states: “Google Cloud and Wiz share a joint vision to make cybersecurity more accessible and simpler to use for organisations of any size and industry. Enabling more companies to prevent cyber attacks, including in very complex business software environments, will help organisations minimise the cost, disruption and hassle caused by cybersecurity incidents.”

AI’s Expanding Role in Enterprise Security

The rapid evolution of AI and cloud computing has transformed cybersecurity, introducing both new opportunities and challenges. Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and IT leaders must now defend against increasingly sophisticated AI-driven cyber threats while integrating AI into their own security strategies.

Traditional security approaches are struggling to keep pace. AI-powered attacks, including automated phishing campaigns and adversarial machine learning, exploit vulnerabilities at scale. As AI-driven software becomes embedded across enterprise systems, businesses must ensure their defences can counter threats in real time.

Modern security solutions must go beyond traditional threat detection. They need to operate across multicloud, hybrid and on-premise environments, integrate with AI models and provide real-time protection against AI-generated cyber threats. Google’s acquisition of Wiz positions both companies to develop these next-generation security solutions.

Wiz and Google Cloud: AI-powered security for the future

Google Cloud and Wiz are focused on reducing complexity in enterprise security by leveraging AI to enhance detection, response and prevention capabilities.

Wiz offers a cloud-native security platform that connects to multiple cloud and AI-driven environments, scanning systems for vulnerabilities and identifying potential attacks. It enables security teams to collaborate with developers, mitigating threats before they escalate.

Google Cloud brings expertise in AI-powered cybersecurity, offering solutions that help organisations monitor and respond to cyber threats in real time. These include:

  • Google Threat Intelligence – AI-enhanced threat analysis providing real-time insights.
  • Google Security Operations – AI-driven security monitoring and automated incident response.
  • Mandiant Consulting – AI-supported cybersecurity consulting, including attack surface management and strategic readiness.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, highlights the significance of AI in cybersecurity: “From its earliest days, Google’s strong security focus has made us a leader in keeping people safe online. Today, businesses and governments that run in the cloud are looking for even stronger security solutions, and greater choice in cloud computing providers. Together, Google Cloud and Wiz will turbocharge improved cloud security and the ability to use multiple clouds.”

AI-Driven multicloud security at scale

The partnership between Google Cloud and Wiz is set to accelerate AI adoption in cybersecurity while strengthening multicloud security across industries. Businesses will benefit from enhanced AI-driven protections, reduced operational complexity and improved cost efficiency.

Key AI-focused advantages for customers include:

  • A next-generation AI-powered security platform integrating Wiz’s Cloud Security Platform with Google Security Operations to protect cloud-native applications.
  • AI-driven automation to help security teams scale cybersecurity defences with minimal manual intervention.
  • Advanced threat detection using AI models to identify and neutralise emerging cyber threats.
  • AI-powered security agents that act as virtual analysts, enhancing in-house security capabilities.
  • AI-backed consulting services, including incident response, proactive threat detection and strategic defence planning.

Wiz’s security solutions will remain available across all major cloud providers, including Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud and Amazon Web Services (AWS). They will also be offered through Google Cloud’s partner network, ensuring broad access to AI-enhanced security tools.

Assaf Rappaport, Co-Founder and CEO of Wiz

Assaf Rappaport, Co-Founder and CEO of Wiz, reinforces the AI-driven focus of the acquisition: “Wiz and Google Cloud are fully committed to continue supporting and protecting customers across all major clouds, helping keep them safe and secure wherever they operate.

"This is an exciting moment for our company, but an even more important one for customers and partners, as this acquisition will bolster our mission to improve security and prevent breaches by providing additional resources and deep AI expertise.”
