How Treefera is Using AI to Eliminate Supply Chain Risks

Treefera, a UK-based supply chain insights start-up, has secured US$30m in Series B funding, led by Notion Capital with contributions from AlbionVC, Triple Point, Twin Path Ventures and Endeit Capital.
The funding supports the expansion of its AI-driven supply chain data platform across North America, Asia Pacific and Europe.
Headquartered in London, Treefera delivers real-time insights into the origins of goods — particularly nature-based goods — with the aim of delivering supply chain transparency, meeting regulatory standards, reducing carbon footprints and authenticating sustainability claims.
The company's focus is very much on the "first mile", meaning it mostly looks at the provenance of commodities, rather their journey up the supply chain.
This phase is a critical, yet often overlooked part of the supply chain, with over 60% of associated risks and costs originating at the start of a commodity's lifecycle.
How Treefera uses AI
Treefera's approach uses a multitude of tech, from satellite imagery, to adaptive AI, to sophisticated risk modelling, all culminating in a “data fabric” that turns fragmented information into valuable insights that businesses can use.
This innovation supports businesses across industries from agriculture to insurance.
Their clientele includes prominent names such as Amazon Rainforest Conservation, Royal Family Farms, Kita, Anew, ACCIONA and Maple Credits.
"Our world runs on nature-based commodities, yet information on the physical source of these assets remains largely invisible to the systems that depend on them," explains Jonathan Horn, the company's Co-Founder.
"Data informs the flow of capital, and at Treefera, we equip enterprises with the clarity to strengthen supply chain resilience, secure future revenue, and scale the upside of regenerative practices.
"With defensible real-time insights on commodities, ingredients, and carbon from the first-mile, businesses can not only have clearer sightlines into sourcing but mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
"This backing led by Notion Capital enables us to accelerate our mission globally for the benefit of business and planet."
How Treefera will use this investment
The US$30m capital will bolster Treefera’s footprint in Europe, North America and Asia, alongside the development of some new platform tools, with real-time commodity tracking, advanced geospatial analytics and automated compliance systems all in the pipeline.
These tools are designed to provide users with precise, timely responses to shifting legal, environmental and trade regulations.
"Treefera’s team has built a category-defining platform at the intersection of AI, data, and supply chain transparency," says Patrick Norris, General Partner at Notion Capital.
"In under a year, Treefera has emerged as a trusted partner for enterprises navigating supply chain risks and carbon obligations.
"We're excited to lead this round and support their vision for resilient, decarbonised global supply chains built on efficiency without compromise."
How AI can be used to meet the demands of supply chains
Right now, complying with ESG regulations is of great importance to businesses. In aid of this compliance, Treefera offers businesses a practical solution that helps to turn sustainability promises into quantifiable results.
The infrastructure behind Treefera emphasises energy efficiency, leveraging decentralised networks and “opportunistic computing” to reduce computing costs and environmental impact.
“What makes Treefera exceptional is their ability to translate massive supply chain datasets into actionable climate insights," says Sara Resvik, Partner at Endeit Capital.
"Their unique methodology aligns strongly with our investment focus on climate tech, and we're proud to partner with them in their mission to provide enterprises with AI-powered supply chain transparency and decarbonisation solutions."
Treefera's AI-driven approach continues to appeal to industries seeking faster project validation and enhanced transparency within their supply chains.
As climate regulations tighten and commodity sourcing faces greater scrutiny, Treefera offers innovative technology to trace supply chains from the very beginning.
