At Huawei Connect 2024 Shanghai, the tech giant launched new AI and cloud developments, underlining its vision for advancing digital intelligence by 2030

At Huawei Connect Shanghai 2024, Huawei's Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman unveiled a series of upgrades to its AI, cloud and compute capabilities, as part of its 'Digitalized Intelligence' 2030 strategic vision.

"AI is becoming the most impactful technology for industries. ” Eric Xu, Huawei's Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman said in a keynote.

Emphasising the importance of envisioning intelligent enterprises to guide current strategies and actions, the tech giant's roadmap for intelligent enterprises is characterised by six 'A's: Adaptive User Experience, Auto-Evolving Products, Autonomous Operations, Augmented Workforce, All-Connected Resources, and AI-Native Infrastructure.

Huawei therefore introduced several new products and solutions to support enterprises in their journey to adopt AI. By developing AI-powered solutions across diverse verticals in the space as well as develop a competent computing “backbone”, Huawei is positioning itself to be a leading partner for AI solutions.

AI announcements

Recognising the growing demand for AI capabilities, Huawei unveiled Pangu Doer, an intelligent assistant powered by the Pangu large model. This tool is designed to usher in a new era of intelligent cloud services, built around a '1+N' architecture. Its uses extend to planning, using, maintaining, and optimising the cloud through a series of specialised assistants tailored to key enterprise scenarios. This development showcases Huawei's commitment to making AI more accessible and easier to deploy for businesses of all sizes.

In the realm of computing power, Huawei announced the launch of its new Atlas 900 SuperCluster. This AI computing cluster, the latest offering in Huawei's Ascend series of computing products, utilises a brand-new architecture to deliver unprecedented performance for AI workloads. Additionally, the company introduced CloudMatrix, an AI-native cloud infrastructure designed to interconnect and pool all resources, including CPUs, NPUs, DPUs, and memory. This solution provides enterprises with large AI computing power, enabling them to build infrastructure that matches their specific requirements.

Yet, not only where their the application side of AI, Huawei announced new technologies necessary for building intelligent infrastructure across numerous industries. A range of new products and solutions, including the latest generation of OceanStor Dorado all-flash storage products, the iMasterCloud management platform, and the iMaster CCAE cluster O&M platform were announced, to cover all enterprise data flows, spanning data connectivity and storage, model development and training, and application deployment. By providing these comprehensive solutions, Huawei aims to help businesses overcome the complexities of industry intelligence and accelerate their digital transformation.

This as well as the development of a reliable and easy-to-use AI training platform and system O&M to cover multiple types of training, including pre-training and incremental training, is designed to help customers quickly and efficiently develop models best suited to their specific needs, pairing with Huawei's full range of AI inference products to meet customers' scenario-specific deployment needs, including modules, PCIe cards, edge stations, and servers.

The Ascend inference engine MindIE software, which integrates industry-leading inference acceleration technologies, is also made available to customers to enhance the efficiency of inference systems and make enterprise AI deployment more affordable.

Huawei's Ascend AI hardware and software products offer partners the flexibility to combine different-sized models to develop out-of-the-box, scenario-based enterprise AI solutions. These offerings include AI frameworks, fine-tuning kits, toolchains, and inference engines. Over 20 partners have already leveraged these offerings to develop more than 100 enterprise AI solutions for various scenarios, demonstrating the practical applicability of Huawei's technology across industries.

Intelligence implementation

As part of its commitment to driving digital transformation, not only are they providing the infrastructure, but the strategic insights needed to implement them.

“We want to work with customers and partners to build powerful infrastructure. Together, we will dive deep into industries, bridge the digital chasm, and help more customers quickly go digital and intelligent," said Eric.

Huawei therefore announced the Global Digitalization Index (GDI), building on its previous Global Connectivity Index. The GDI incorporates new indicators that assess digital infrastructure, including computing, storage, cloud, and green energy. It also quantifies the value of each country's ICT industry and its impact on their national economy. One of the key findings from this index reveals that for every US$1 invested in ICT, there is an US$8.3 return in a country's digital economy, underscoring the significant economic potential of digital transformation.

By addressing key challenges in infrastructure, data management, and AI deployment, Huawei is positioning itself as a leader in the evolving digital landscape. The company's focus on collaboration and ecosystem development further reinforces its commitment to fostering innovation and shared success in the intelligent era.

These innovative solutions helping enterprises on their journey to AI, autonomous cars, and more, can be witnessed at this year’s GITEX. From October 14 to 18, Huawei will be a Diamond Sponsor at the 44th GITEX GLOBAL 2024, one of the world's largest technology exhibitions.

With the theme of "Accelerate Industrial Digitalization and Intelligence", Huawei will launch a series of flagship products and solutions for the global enterprise markets, Reference Architecture for Intelligent Transformation, and rich innovative practices in digital intelligence in the global industry.

At the same time, Huawei will hold the Huawei Industrial Digital and Intelligent Transformation Summit 2024, dozens of forums, hundreds of talks and keynote speeches, exchanging thoughts with the industry.

At this exhibition, Huawei's booth is located at B10&B20, Hall 22, Dubai World Trade Center. It covers an area of more than 1400 square metres, with the focus on two themes: " Accelerate Industrial Digitalization and Intelligence" and "Leading Digital and Intelligent Infrastructure".

They are extending a welcome for all to visit the GITEX Global Huawei exhibition area to experience and join its journey of " Accelerate Industrial Digitalization and Intelligence ".
