AMD and G42 Partner to Boost AI Innovation in France
Leading AI technology group G42 has announced a strategic partnership in France with DataOne, Europe’s first company fully dedicated to the design, construction, operation and financing of next-generation AI data centres.
DataOne is pioneering the future of ultra-efficiency, high-performance and sustainable AI data centres with gigascale developments in Lyon and Grenoble in France.
This collaboration gives G42 immediate access to the market and the opportunity for infrastructure optimisation. Led by Core42, the strategic partnership will help set up the state-of-the-art AI data centre in Grenoble. This facility will harness the power of AMD GPUs, providing enterprises, researchers, and innovators access to innovative AI infrastructure.
The move reflects G42’s commitment to bolstering global AI capacities while also enhancing Europe’s technological edge.
Closely after this announcement, AMD said that it had signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with France's Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA) setting out future collaboration plans in advanced technologies that will redefine AI computing frontiers.
Driving French AI innovation
Core42 is incorporating AMD’s Instinct accelerator technologies into the data centre development in order to deliver the computational power and infrastructure needed by French entities to develop and upscale sophisticated AI applications. Slated for completion by mid 2025, the Grenoble facility demonstrates G42’s investment in cultivating partnerships within Europe’s AI ecosystem and its belief in fostering digital transformation.
These strategic alliances ensure that France's AI-driven businesses are equipped with advanced AI infrastructure, potentially establishing France as a hub for AI excellence.
Recognising France’s strides in AI innovation, G42 is enthusiastic about contributing to the country’s progress. "By deploying AMD GPUs, we are not only strengthening Europe's AI infrastructure but also enabling enterprises and researchers to accelerate innovation at scale," says Kiril Evtimov, Group CTO of G42 and CEO of Core42.

As AI compute demand skyrockets globally, Core42 presents a versatile AI cloud offering that incorporates various AI accelerator options, thus not only expanding its global reach but also advancing AI-driven innovations throughout Europe and beyond.
AMD’s new partnership with CEA is a testament to its involvement in the French AI startup ecosystem. This synergy aims to leverage the strengths of both organisations to spearhead energy-efficient solutions for today’s intensive AI workloads, catering to industries like energy and healthcare.
Both AMD and CEA have also disclosed plans for a symposium in 2025 focusing on the evolution of AI compute platforms, which is set to bring together European and global experts in technology.
