GTT: Keeping Distributed Enterprises Secure and Connected

Networking and security have never been more complex. The rise of software-based applications in the cloud, a hybrid and highly mobile workforce, growing multicloud deployments and large volumes of distributed data are significantly expanding the attack surface. Meanwhile, the rapid adoption of AI requires accessibility to clean data regardless of where it is stored.
For this environment, GTT has the answer. The company, which operates one of the world’s leading global backbones, connects, secures and simplifies the design, deployment and evolution of networking and security infrastructure.
“We’re a global provider of secured and managed networking services,” says Jesse Okerlund, Vice President of Enterprise Sales for the Americas Division of GTT. “In a world where security is paramount, not only can we deliver networking solutions, we can also provide ubiquitous security and managed services to help customers in the changing landscape.”
The future of network compute
Key to this is GTT Envision, a platform designed to connect, orchestrate, virtualise and automate enterprise networks. The GTT Envision platform combines the technology of EnvisionCORE and EnvisionEDGE for the virtual deployment of orchestrated network functions anywhere. This is managed, customised and controlled through a single digital experience, EnvisionDX.
“The future of network compute is virtualisation and GTT is leading the way,” says Jesse. “With local access, a powerful edge compute device and a global backbone with 25 virtual network function sites embedded across six continents, we can deploy network and security services virtually across the world for our customers – whenever and however they want.”
Enabling transformation at Syngenta
GTT works with agricultural and innovation leader Syngenta, enabling the transformation of its global networks.
“Syngenta operates on every continent in very complex environments and looked to us for secure connections to these locations,” Jesse notes. “As part of its transformation, we’ve been deploying our EnvisionEDGE devices, enabling its network services. EnvisionEDGE allows us to test throughput, monitor and manage, and automatically detect if a device is down and troubleshoot against it.
“In the new world of the internet and the cloud, almost every function of every business depends on access to the servers and applications that technology runs on,” he adds. “Network reliability is critical, and our ability to react quickly and keep networks secure and operating is something we are proud to deliver.”
GTT’s services and innovations will remain crucial in the rapidly evolving business landscape. The company is developing Envision to be an API-first, machine learning and automated environment with an AI layer to further improve the customer experience, giving a holistic and real-time ability to manage networks.
“We’re looking at virtualised networks as a service to help companies simplify the increasing complexity of a distributed enterprise,” Jesse says. “Very soon, our customers will be able to interact with us in different ways through AI agents and our customer digital experience, getting automated delivery of alerts and network analytics, for example. That will be game- changing.”
