GITEX Global 2024: Unveiling the Future of Tech Innovation

As GITEX Global 2024 draws near, the event, celebrated as the pinnacle of technology and entrepreneurial spirit, readies to dazzle at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 14-18. This year, it stands as a crucible for revolutionary ideas, uniting thought leaders, innovators, and policy shapers from every corner of the planet.
In a move to keep the momentum surging, the organisers are introducing GITEX Editions this 44th year. This fresh venture is set to boost growth and global governance for companies brimming with potential. It's a step in sync with Dubai’s visionary aim of fostering 30 startup unicorns by 2030, solidifying its spot as a global nexus for tech.
GITEX Editions will host an eclectic mix of speakers from rapidly evolving startups spread across eight nations. A standout is Fabrizio del Maffeo from Axelera AI, helming as Co-Founder, CEO, and Board Member. His Netherlands-based venture, enjoying the backing from giants like Samsung and the European Innovation Council (EIC) and valued at a whopping US$500 million, specialises in next-gen AI infrastructure and edge computing solutions.
Joining the list is Dr Alexander Zhavoronkov, steering InSilico Medicine. This Hong Kong biotech marvel, with a valuation of US$1.5bn, made history with the sector's fastest-ever IPO. Dr Zhavoronkov will delve into AI's prowess in drug discovery, synthetic biology, and ageing research, underlining the event’s thrust on avant-garde life sciences technologies.
GITEX Editions isn't holding back, ensuring its speaker list reflects a wide array of tech terrains. From sustainable biotech represented by Dr Mazen Rizk of Infinite Roots to the quantum realm with Dr Joseph Fitzsimons of Horizon Quantum Computing, the segments are designed to sculpt the future of diverse sectors.
Cybersecurity takes the spotlight
This year, GITEX shines a laser focus on cybersecurity, complete with a tailored conference programme that spins tales from the trenches, showcases AI-powered live hacks, and ignites debates among top CISOs. Making their inaugural GITEX appearance are cyber luminaries like Chenxi Wang of Rain Capital and Ekaterina Serban from Bosch.
Chenxi Wang, celebrated by Fortune magazine as a leading international cyber investor, will engage in discussions alongside global venture capitalists on the surge in business investments towards cutting-edge security solutions. Meanwhile, Serban is set to enrich a panel discussion among CISOs and CIOs, centring on strategies for cybersecurity adoption within corporate boards.
Welcome, tech maestros of 2024!
GITEX 2024 also rolls out the red carpet for first-timers from prestigious global tech enterprises. Among them, Sony AI Inc's Michael Spranger, and Chris Duffey from Adobe, who boasts authorship of the first book on AI co-written with AI, will impart their wisdom on generative AI’s transformative impact on creative realms. Furthermore, Isabell Gradert from Airbus will mark her regional debut, propelling aerospace innovation into the limelight.
Spotlight on tech destination: Pakistan
Announcing an exciting partnership, GITEX Global 2024 heralds 'Tech Destination Pakistan', spearheaded by the Pakistan Software Export Board, as the event’s shining 'Tech Destination of the Year'. This alliance underlines the burgeoning significance of nascent tech hubs in the digital global landscape.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for IT & Telecommunication in Pakistan, expressed excitement over this collaboration, emphasising Pakistan's dedication to innovation, technology and global collaboration. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to innovation, technology, and global cooperation.
