Job From: VP of AI at Cisco
Job To: CAO at General Motors
General Motors (GM) has appointed its first Chief AI Officer, Barak Turovsky. Barak has a wealth of experience as an AI leader from his previous roles at Google and Cisco, which will be key to driving GM’s strategy to leverage AI across its business, from vehicle innovation to operational efficiency.
At Google, Turovsky led advancements in language AI and generative models, scaling solutions for billions of users across Search, Translate and Ads. As Cisco’s Vice President of AI, he developed enterprise-grade AI tools to bridge technical innovation with business impact.
Barak’s global perspective – shaped by work in the US, Israel and Russia – aligns with GM’s vision for AI-driven mobility solutions worldwide.
Dave Richardson, GM’s Senior Vice President of Software and Services Engineering, emphasised the importance of this move: “AI is central to GM’s EV, ICE and autonomous future, and Barak Turovsky's expertise will accelerate the team’s AI efforts, including enhancing products, optimising operations and improving the customer experience.”
Reporting directly to Dave, Barak will lead a team focused on integrating advanced AI capabilities into GM’s vehicle lineup and broader operations.
Reflecting on his new role, Barak shared on LinkedIn: “It’s an incredible time to be part of GM’s transformative journey and I’m eager to contribute to the company’s innovation in applying AI to automotive technology.”
GM has already employed AI to optimise EV charger locations, streamline dealer order processes and enhance manufacturing.
Now, with Barak, the company aims to expand these efforts and solidify its position as a leader in automotive AI innovation.
