Software company Appian, has appointed Randy Guard to the position of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

Exciting times lie ahead for software company Appian, who have this week announced the appointment of Randy Guard to the position of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

Guard, who brings more than 35 years of experience in marketing, product strategy, and technology leadership to Appian’s executive team, will oversee the company’s global marketing efforts, focusing on delivering Appian's end-to-end process automation vision and the power of the Appian Platform to organisations worldwide.

Guard's impressive employment history includes 20 years at the forefront of data and analytics leader SAS, where he played a pivotal role in developing and leading product and marketing teams, holding the position of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for five years. 

Founder and CEO of Appian, Matt Calkins, says: “Randy's background and his exceptional leadership qualities make him the ideal person to guide our global marketing efforts. His mix of business, technical and marketing experience will be an impactful addition to our team and company culture.”

Aligning a passion for technology and marketing with company values

During his time at SAS, Guard played a central role in marketing the SAS platform, various solutions, and SAS AI products, which encompassed machine learning and deep learning integrated into the SAS portfolio. Recently, he served as the CMO and Chief Product Officer at the digital payments start-up, Spreedly.
