How Darktraceās Self-Learning AI Is Redefining Cybersecurity

Organisations must be agile in the cyber landscape to handle challenges related to delayed response times, unknown threats, tool fragmentation, cloud complexity and privacy compliance.
This, combined with the technological advancements emerging from the rise of AI, means organisations must ensure they have adaptive and dynamic protection against evolving cybersecurity threats.
Darktrace continues to demonstrate its ability to craft resilient and fully autonomous cyber defence systems through its Self-Learning AI.
This cybersecurity solution aims to achieve real-time threat detection and response, behavioural prediction and incident investigation by integrating several AI techniques, methods and capabilities.
Nicole Eagan, Co-Founder of Darktrace, explains: āIf an insider or an external adversary attempts a very targeted, specific novel attack, we can spot it and contain it in seconds.ā
Darktraceās AI platform is cloud-native and must adapt to dynamic and complex cloud environments.
Through its partnership with AWS, it unlocked advanced capabilities for cloud-specific threat detection and response and seamless deployment within AWS-hosted environments.
Nicole adds: āOur goal was to build the world's best Self-Learning AI, so we needed it to work with as many companies as possible across all sizes and verticals.
āIt also had to scale up and down and understand a global geopolitical landscape.ā
What makes Darktraceās AI unique
Darktraceās Self-Learning AI crafts an evolving, real-time understanding of every user, workload and device within the environment, rather than relying solely on historical attack data.
This user-led approach means AI adapts to meet new business changes, no pre-training is needed and threats are detected on subtle deviations.
Its Autonomous Response technology, Antigena, acts autonomously, allowing it to interrupt attacks in real-time, maintain business continuity by targeting only malicious activity and contain threats without manual intervention.
The Cyber AI Analyst mirrors the skills of human security analysts by performing autonomous investigations. It summarises threats with natural language reporting, correlates events across the enterprise and speeds up triage.
This means security teams can focus on strategic decision-making.
Darktraceās AI works across the whole organisation, including SaaS applications, Endpoints and Cloud infrastructure, offering a unified view of risk and allowing security teams to understand and respond to threats across traditionally siloed systems.
The infrastructure is adaptive and self-regulating, mirroring the principles of the human immune system.
This means it can neutralise threats without external input, evolve alongside changing digital infrastructures and identify emerging risks.
Darktraceās AI adaptive, self-defending system offers autonomous response, real-time threat detection and enterprise-grade design to effectively handle changing cyber threats.
Darktrace and AWS
Darktrace partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support the global scalability of its Self-Learning AI.
Darktrace can utilise AWS’ reliable and secure infrastructure to offer real-time threat detection and response.
Darktrace works with AWS services to secure cloud-native environments. By monitoring AWS workloads in real-time, it detects novel threats or malicious behaviour, offers 360-degree visibility into cloud activities and provides autonomous responses.
Through the AWS Global Passport programme, Darktrace gained specialised resources and support, helping it to expand into key markets and engage in joint go-to-market initiatives with AWS.
Kyle Grady, Darktrace’s Director of Cloud Alliances Marketing, says: “We've needed to build brand recognition in the US market. AWS is such a great partner for that because you can stand on the shoulders of giants.
“It’s helped us understand where we can make the biggest impact in a small amount of time.”
Francesca Bowen, Global Vice President of Cloud at Darktrace, adds: “It’s a really deep and broad alliance.
“Seeing our technical teams and AWS solutions architects solve customer challenges together in a secure way is like nirvana.”
Darktrace’s mission mirrors AWS’ commitment to compliance and security.
Darktrace can ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and protection for multi-cloud environments by training AI models locally and deploying via AWS’ secure cloud regions.
The Darktrace-AWS partnership combines enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure with advanced AI cybersecurity to offer scalable deployment for global customers, real-time cyber defence across cloud and hybrid environments and joint innovation that enhances CISO effectiveness and operational resilience.
This will help support organisations to prepare for tomorrow’s changing cyber threats with confidence.
Nicole concludes: “We’re really excited to partner with AWS on the agentic AI journey.
“As leaders in autonomous capabilities, we already understand how AI augments Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) to become more effective and efficient at scale.”
